Vesting for your team

Vesting pays a teammate their share of each sweep over days instead of at once. It is set per recipient and runs entirely in the vault.

Why vest

Fees arrive in bursts: a busy launch week can pay more than the next three months. Vesting turns each burst into a steady stream, so the team's income follows the token's life rather than its first days, and holders can see that on the report.

How it works

  • Each sweep adds the recipient's share to a linear schedule instead of sending it.
  • What has unlocked can be released at any time. Anyone can trigger the release, and it always pays the recipient.
  • New fees blend into the running schedule: the end date becomes the amount-weighted average of the time left and a full new period.
blended end date
new end = now + (still locked × time left + new amount × period)
/ (still locked + new amount)

Worked example

A Dev team share with a 30-day vest, and two sweeps ten days apart:

DayWhat happensStill lockedFully unlocked
0A sweep adds 0.3 ETH to the Dev team's schedule0.3 ETHday 30
100.1 ETH has unlocked (one third of the time has passed)0.2 ETHday 30
10A second sweep adds 0.3 ETH. The unlocked 0.1 ETH is set aside to release, and the rest blends: (0.2 × 20 + 0.3 × 30) / 0.5 = 26 days0.5 ETHday 36
36Everything from both sweeps has unlocked0 ETH–
The short version
Every part of a vested share is fully unlocked no later than one full period after the latest sweep, as long as the period itself has not changed.

Choosing a period

  • 7 days smooths payouts without making anyone wait long. Good for contributors paid like contractors.
  • 30 days is a stronger signal to holders and suits core team members.
  • The app offers instant, 7-day, and 30-day. The contract accepts up to 365 days through proposeSplits for teams that want longer.
  • Changing someone's period is a split change: it waits out your timelock in public like any other.

For recipients

Connect your wallet on Earnings. It lists every vault that pays you, what you received, what is still locked and when it fully unlocks, and a button to release what is yours now. If your wallet is a smart contract that could not accept a payment during a sweep, that payment waits there too.
